MAME ROW #162 is live

@victimrlsh I just played some Hyper Pacman (by Semicom) which I thought was only a Pac-Man (by Namco) clone, but I think it's actually cooler. It's Pac-Man, BUT the mazes are much different, you can collect a helmet which allows you to shoot the ghosts (what?), and you get "shoes with wings" that allow you to jump over the ghosts. There's probably more odd pickups, but I just played once and then wrote this. I love oddball stuff. And it's two-player simultaneous! (I thought Pac-Man Arrangement was the only two-player simultaneous arcade Pac-Man game.)

(Hyper PacMan 2 [sequel by a different Korean company] is a fun bootleg of a bootleg that's only found in the Puzzle King multi-cade). It's just wacky. You're in the topics... with a spreadshot shooting ghosts... as Pac-Man. Odd. Ball. XD

I was still trying this game, before going over to next weeks game. I just discovered the other guns have "bombs" and not just this "useless" evasion move. I finally managed to kill all enemies in first level, 100% clear rate and beat my personal score quickly by a little bit. @VictimRLSH your score is still insane.

EmulationStation has the X button mapped for choosing a random system or game. If you're in the system list, X will position you to a random system, if you're in a game list (inside a system), it will position you to a random game - you just have to press A to start the game.
Modifying the existing behavior - to start the game automatically - means you're going to have to program it into EmulationStation - something that's non-trivial for someone that's not familiar with programming or EmulationStation's source.

Unfortunately I didn't get much chance to play anything, as I was accompanied by my 5 year old son for the first time, and he was more interested in the merchandise in the trade hall - picking up a Golden Mario and a bunch of Star Wars figures.

They always have a stand-up Star Wars machine there, which is my favourite one - I have great nostalgic memories of playing that in wet October holidays on our annual trip to visit my grandparents.

Apparently they also had the sit-down version of the Star Wars cab this year, but I didn't see it.

I think the vector graphics still look pretty good and haven't really aged as much as some of the other technology around at the time.

They had quite a few sit-down cabs this time actually, which was new, and a bunch of Candy cabs as well.

My favourite one to see, if perhaps not to play, was an ancient old Video Pinball one they had a couple of years back.
